COURSE INSTRUCTOR: The course will be led by US green building construction professional and certified instructor, Joseph Marfi, LEED AP and Director of Sustainable Design & Construction for Turner Construction. Mr. Marfi is a native Hungarian, trained as an Architect, and has decades of field experience as a general contractor and construction manager in 3 continents.

BUILDING PROFESSIONALS: The digital wave has impacted the building industry and revolutionized the field. The instructor will demonstrate emerging technologies and recent advancements in BIM(Building Information Modeling) and VDC(Virtual Design & Construction) that have prompted fundamental changes in the global green building industry.  Digital drawings formerly useful only for Architects are now essential tools in all phases of construction management.  See how 3-dimensional modeling is driving decision making in many aspects from financing to operations, material selection to equipment specifications, and pre-fabrication to safety.  Plan modifications and changes that once created confusion and delays are now seamlessly incorporated into the everyday workflow with the application of wireless field stations.

DEVELOPERS AND CONSTRUCTION PROFESSIONALS:  Construction managers and professionals will learn about new pre-construction tools and construction methods that are increasing efficiency to a previously unimaginable pace. The course will provide an overview of various project delivery methods, demonstrate digital tools that can be applied to all phases of design & construction, and introduce new scheduling concepts for increased accuracy in planning, lower overall costs, and higher quality construction.

FINANCIERS AND UPPER MANAGEMENT: This course will also provide insight to upper management about the financial benefits of building green.  New management tools allow more control of cost & schedule of the design and construction process. The instructor will give guidance and practical advice for building professionals in the field of development, finance as well as to architects, construction managers and general contractors on how to use the best mix of these new tools and techniques on new projects for a more predictable and profitable outcome.
