Sustainable Real Estate Management Course

This interactive workshop was created by a panel of real estate experts from across Europe and is designed for professionals working in the real estate, design and building/construction industries. 

Building upon conventional real estate management practices, this course will introduce green building strategies, emerging technology, and an integrative approach to managing the entire life cycle of a building. Focusing on existing building, but both new construction and existing building renovation will be addressed.

The course will discuss the basics but introduce and compare new ways of benchmarking costs and efficient building operations.  Participants will learn about the variety of green building rating systems currently being used in Europe markets as well as EU legislation that relates to the building industry.  Using real life examples from conception to completion, the instructor will highlight various IT applications related to design, construction, and real estate management. This course will bridge the communication gaps between developers, financiers, and construction professionals. Group activities will provide valuable experience for cost & management practices using a hands-on approach. The course will briefly introduce the ‘Lean Construction Method’ and the fundamentals of a new scheduling concept ‘Last Planner’.

Upon Completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  •       Explain the concept of sustainable development from a real estate perspective
  •       Generate sound sustainability initiatives to be incorporated into real estate management practice
  •       Identify the roles of a real estate management company related to sustainability
  •       Demonstrate how sustainability can be incorporated by the real estate management company into each stage of the building life cycle
  •       Develop unique approaches for each asset type (commercial vs residential / existing vs new)
  •       Explore new technologies and systems essential in the delivery of sustainable real estate solutions

ABOUT THE PRESENTER 

Joseph Marfi - LEED AP; Director of Sustainability - Turner Construction; Adjunct Professor California State University.

Mr. Marfi started as an Architect in Hungary, and has gained decades of field experience as a general contractor and construction manager in the US.  He has been working with Real Estate professionals all his life. This course is very practical and full of real life examples.

This course will be in English.
